Wellness Promotion

The Wellness Team of nurses strives to support, educate, and guide community members with their health needs. This includes regular preventative monitoring of illness, monitoring and management of diagnosed illness and reduction in complications. This can include diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), dyslipidemia (high cholesterol), breathing difficulty such as COPD, weight management, women’s health and more. They take the time to ensure physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing are supported.

What to expect:

During an appointment, they measure blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, assess blood tests, medication, and health history; and together, the patient and nurse decide how to proceed.

The Wellness team works closely with other specialities such as doctors, pharmacists, nutritionists, and the Traditional Medicine Unit, often times referring to them to better manage all aspects of wellness. You can self-refer by calling CHU Reception or being referred by your doctor.
