Wellness Promotion

Diabetes education is part of wellness promotion. The goal is to help with understanding diabetes, its complications, nutritional management, physical activity, medication and more. Everyone has a different response to hearing the news of a new diagnosis. Each appointment and plan is tailored to each individual. The general goals of management is to get blood glucose (blood sugar) within normal range and prevent complications from diabetes.

We work closely with:

  • Doctors
  • Pharmacists
  • Nutritionists
  • Eye clinic
  • Foot care clinic
  • Traditional medicine

Community wellness:

The Wellness team strives to support, educate and guide community members with their health needs. This includes regular preventative monitoring of illness, monitoring and management of diagnosed illness and reduction in complications. This can include diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), dyslipidemia (high cholesterol), breathing difficulty such as COPD, weight management, women’s health and more. We take the time to ensure physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing.

What to expect:

During an appointment we take blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, go through blood tests, medication, and health history and together, decide how to proceed.

The team works closely with other specialities such as doctors, pharmacists, nutritionists, and traditional medicine; often times referring to them to better manage all aspects of wellness. You can self refer by calling our secretary or being referred by the doctor.
